The all-new 2014 Chevy Impala has commenced production at GM’s Oshwawa,
Canada assembly plant on April 1, 2013. Based on GM’s extended (or Super) Epsilon
II vehicle architecture, the Impala will begin arriving in Chevrolet showrooms
across North America in early April. The vehicle will offer a choice of three
engines, including:
- 2.4L I4 mild-hybrid Ecotec LUK
- 2.5L I4 Ecotec LCV
- 3.6L V6 LFX
The new Chevy flagship sedan delivers new content and technology never
before seen on the Impala, such as the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system, Adaptive
Cruise Control, crash-avoidance technologies like Rear Cross Traffic Alert and
Side Blind Zone Alert, as well as ten standard airbags.
At Oshawa, the new Impala is built on the same state-of-the-art Flexible
Manufacturing line at GM’s Oshawa plant shared with the Chevrolet Camaro, Buick
Regal and Cadillac XTS, with the latter two sharing the general Epsilon II
vehicle architecture with the Impala. The Impala will also be produced at
GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant starting in May.
Meanwhile, the outgoing last-generation Impala will remain in production
through 2014, for fleet purposes.
